Green Energy Myths and Facts

August 29th, 2009 by gogreen No comments »

Introduction:

Google search for “green energy” returns 3.7 millions pages. Global warming, climate change and other related issues have provoke massive interest in green energy. from the beginning of life, the Sun is our main source of energy, even fossil fuels were created indirectly by sun. In recent years planet earth is facing alarming crisis with the depletion of fossil fuels.

Consuming fossil fuels has improved our lives in many ways, but burning fossil fuels has also created threats to our environment. Burning fossil fuels has provided us with energy for lights, refrigeration, air conditioning, and electronics – such as radio, TV, and computers. Yet the use of fossil fuel energy has also brought several problems with it. Energy efficiency and renewable energy sources can solve these problems.

A 1999 report from the United Nations’ Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change projects that the earth’s average surface temperature will increase between 2.5°F and 10.4°F in the next 100 years. This is in addition to the increase of 0.5° F to 1.1°F that has already occurred since 1860. The panel is made up of two thousand scientists from around the world.

The U.S. has both pumped and burned more oil than any other country. For the last 30 years, oil fields in the U.S. have been depleted faster than we can find new ones. Now we must buy more than half of the oil we use from other countries (54% in 2001). While the U.S. was once the world’s largest exporter of oil, today we are the world’s largest importer.

Oil imports cost the U.S. $233 million each day in 2001, for a total of $85 billion.21 That’s a lot of money drained from the national economy. The people and businesses of Michigan spend about $12 billion each year to import energy from other states and countries. As oil resource becomes more depleted, it will become even more expensive. In contrast, energy efficiency and renewable energy keeps money and jobs here, producing a healthier economy.

This are the few reasons that renewable energy grabs so much attention! there are so many sites and D.I.Y products available in the market, which rather confuse the prospective buyer. That is the main reason that we at  “Green Energy Reviews” wants to use our scientific background and training to review few top selling products, and provide neutral honest review to ease the buying process for anybody who cares about environment, saving money and have bit of fun.

Myths: ( about D.I.Y Green Energy)

  • It’s cheap and easy: (not really!) if you don’t have right instructions, tools and commitment, it can be an expansive time consuming affair.
  • It’s very expansive: (aha, contradictory) well as a matter of fact, it’s not as compare to commercial products available in market. ( read our reviews)
  • It Never works: No, it does if the project is done with precision.
  • It’s time consuming and tedious: Well, this is very relative so we wont talk about it. it’s like any other D.I.Y project, which requires bit of time, but if you look at the value of satisfaction and money you save, time you have spent is nothing.

Facts: ( about D.I.Y Green Energy)

  • The total solar energy absorbed by Earth’s atmosphere, oceans and land masses is approximately 3,850,000 exajoules (EJ) per year. In 2002, this was more energy in one hour than the world used in one year.
  • Completed in 2007, the 14 MW power station in Clark County, Nevada, United States and the 20 MW site in Beneixama, Spain are characteristic of the trend toward larger photovoltaic power stations in the United States and Europe.
